Can I have a buddy?
We are the process of setting up a buddy system within the college, until we have buddies ready to allocate you are welcome to bring your own buddy/ support. If this person is not enrolled onto the class then they will be considered there purely as your support and will not be actively involved in the class (will not receive print outs, work books etc). We also ask that you let us know if you plan to bring a support with you so we can factor this into the amount of people in the room. As our courses are designed to empower you we would hope that you would only require a buddy/ support for a few weeks or less of attending before you feel comfortable enough to attend independently
How many courses can I register for?
We don’t have a limit on courses necessarily however; we will advise you on courses to ensure that what you have signed up for will be beneficial to you. We also do not want you to overwhelm yourself with courses, sometimes quality is better than quantity. If we notice that you have enrolled onto a lot of courses then we will just have a chat to discuss a bit more to ensure you are not overwhelmed and that the courses are all right for you.
Can I bring a friend?
You can of course recommend the college to your friends, we do ask that any friends enrol at the college before attending, our class sizes are limited so its important that all students sign up and are added to registers before attending.
Who do I speak to if I feel uncomfortable during the course?
You can always leave the classroom at any point if you are not comfortable. You can go to waiting area on the sofas; a tutor will come and check that you are ok and see if want to talk. If you do want to talk then someone will stay with you or take you somewhere private to chat, if you do not wish to chat we will leave you to have time alone.
If you are in the middle of the class you can call one of the tutors over and let them know that you’d like to talk or alternatively you can just leave the room and a tutor will follow.
Can I attend if I am more than 15 mins late?
This is dependent on the course and the reasons for being late- it will be judged on an individual basis. We would strongly recommend that you are on time for your course as you could miss vital information if you are late, it is also very disruptive to the rest of the class. Consistent lateness will not be tolerated and we will have a discussion with you about we can make sure you get to your class on time
What do I do if I can't attend for a week or two?
This is dependant on the course and reasons for missing weeks. For some courses missing two weeks would be detrimental to the benefits and knowledge you receive from the course and you could be missing important information, it can also be disruptive to the rest of the class to have someone join 2 weeks late. For these reasons you be withdrawn from the course if you miss 2 weeks or more. Some situations are unavoidable of course so we will take each case individually.
